About the Teacher....My name is Dawn Harrison and I am Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) a.k.a. Home Economics Teacher in the state of North Carolina. I created this blog as way to showcase my Apparel and Textile students design work.
I am a Midwest girl at heart. I grew up in Michigan where I attended Central Michigan University. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Clothing and Textiles with a minor in Business, I moved to Los Angeles and worked as an Assistant Designer for a clothing manufacturing company. Later I moved to North Carolina and truly followed my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. In NC, I began a new career in public education as a lateral entry FCS teacher. I continued my education at AT&T University to earn my teacher certification and then my Masters in Family and Consumer Sciences Education at NC Central University. I am also a National Board Certified Career and Technical Education Teacher. I have been teaching for over 20 years now and have taught most of the discipline areas within FCS education. I currently teach Apparel and Textile Production level I and II, FACS Advanced Studies, and Fashion Merchandising. |
